Hello JGFA Families,

As many of you may have seen on social media already, MN Softball has released an updated schedule for what this summer/fall will look like at this point.  A summary of what we are looking at right now is below:

  • Summer Big West League games are canceled.
  • There will be an invitational state tournament for each age group towards the end of July.
  • We are working with other associations in the area to create a schedule of scrimmages/games and potentially a small friendly tournament or two once games are allowed.  We have a Zoom meeting with some of the other local directors this Friday evening to get a better idea of how many teams would be involved and work on a plan so that we can hit the ground running as soon as games are given the green light.
  • We have been told that we will likely be hearing from the state that games are allowed by the end of June.  It could be in two days or two weeks so we will continue to practice until we get the ok to proceed.
  • We will continue to adjust teams as needed to make sure that all teams have enough players to practice and eventually play games.
  • The updated player fee for this summer season will be $75 for all ages.  This will help cover the costs of field rentals, equipment, certifications, and the added fees from the City and School District.
  • Due to the added fees from the City and School District, it is likely that the majority of our scrimmages and/or games will be held outside of Jordan.  At this point, just 2-3 practices each week with 6-7 teams we will be charged upwards of $600/week just for the added $35/hour sanitizing fee.
  • For those interested in playing fall ball this year, they have added two weeks onto the start of this season.  Fall Ball games will now begin the weekend of August 8/9 and practices likely the first week of August.  The JGFA Board is working on our plan for fall ball and will send out an update soon.

As always please feel free to reach out with any questions.

Thanks!
